Business Problem

A US publisher of transactions needed to convert 5,000 legacy XML-LaTex journal articles from DynaWeb static HTML. DynaWeb rendered dynamically HTML, and XBM graphics from embedded LaTex markup. There was no ID in the XML relating to the XBM graphics or their LaTex code.

Solution

The content-management team developed a web spider to harvest XBM graphics, put an ID on them, convert them to GIF, and update the XML with the graphic ID. An XSL-T program converted the XML to XHTML.
