XMetaL for Authors

Duration: 1 day
Description: This course will give attendees the basic skills to use XMetaL to author and edit XML/SGML markup. The course covers topics such as:

• Understanding the XMetaL user interface
• Navigating and setting preferences
• Text editing operations
• Element and attribute operations
• Working with entities, graphics and special characters
• Inserting, formatting and modifying tables
• Using various XMetaL features

Format: The course consists of lectures/demonstrations by the instructor punctuated by hands-on exercises by the attendees.

Comments: The course assumes a basic knowledge of XML/SGML; however an optional 1/2-day introductory module Introduction to XML/SGML For Authors can can be included at the beginning of the course if desired.
